How to pack an order into several shipments in Pick and Pack

When an order doesn't fit one box, add shipments while you pack. Every shipment is registered with the carrier on its own, gets its own label and tracking code, and the order completes only once every label is scanned. With a scanner you add shipments as boxes fill up; in No-scan mode you lay the shipments out in a planner before sealing them.

  1. 1

Everything starts in Shipment 1. In a Pick and Pack session the Confirmed Items column shows a Shipment 1 block marked Next scan - every item you scan or click lands in it. Until you add a second shipment, the flow is exactly the single-label flow.

  2. 2

When the box is full, click "Box is full, add new shipment" in the Confirmed Items heading (it appears once the current shipment holds at least one item and items are still pending). The Add shipment 2? window spells out what happens: shipment 1 is sealed, its shipping label is printed, and the items you scan next go into shipment 2. Confirm, label the box, and keep scanning.

  3. 3

Pack into the right shipment. The newest shipment is the active one - Next scan marks it. To put an item into another open shipment instead, click that block first (Click to pack into this shipment).

  4. 4

Finish the last shipment. When the last item is confirmed, the open shipment is sealed and its label prints - the status pill reads SEALING SHIPMENT N, PRINTING ITS LABEL…, then SCAN EVERY SHIPMENT LABEL TO COMPLETE (0/N). Scan each printed label; its block turns to Label scanned and the counter climbs. The order completes - and the next one loads - once every label is scanned.

  5. 5

Changed your mind? The X on a shipment block opens Remove shipment N?: its label becomes void (throw the printed one away), its items go back to Pending Items to be scanned into the right shipment, and any later shipments are reopened and get new labels when sealed again. The top bar's Reset reopens every sealed shipment at once.

  6. 6

No-scan mode works through the planner. With No-scan mode on, nothing is confirmed item by item, so click Add shipments in the Order Items heading instead. The Add shipments window is a table of items against shipments: type how many units of each item go into each shipment, click Add shipment for another column, and leave the rest - Shipment 1 keeps whatever you don't move to another shipment. Click Seal shipments and print labels: every shipment is registered with the carrier and its label prints. Then complete the order as usual - PRINT SHIPMENT N LABEL TO COMPLETE tells you if a label is still missing.

Good to know

  • Shipment 1 replaces the order's original label. If a label was already created for the order - for example by Create shipments in advance - sealing shipment 1 registers it again: Shipment 1 got a new label. The label printed earlier for this order is void.
  • Changing a sealed shipment voids its label and the labels of every shipment after it - they are registered again when sealed. Keep that in mind before removing shipment 1 of five.
  • Store pick-up orders are always packed as one, so they never show the shipment blocks or the planner.
  • An auto-generated return label is listed with the items but never goes into a shipment. Once every shipment is sealed, confirm it last - the status pill says so - and then complete the order.
  • On the order page, the Shipping card lists one tracking code per shipment, and the Shipments window shows every shipment with its status - a removed one stays listed as Void. Each row has its own Download and Print buttons.
  • The same planner is available from the order page's Shipments window, outside a packing session - see how to create an additional shipment.
  • Not everything on the shelf? Seal what you have and split the rest off - see how to ship part of an order.
