How to set up automatic return labels
Auto-returns generate a return label for every order fulfilled with a given shipping option — so each parcel can go out with a ready return label inside.
- 1
Open the carrier's configuration page (Shipping → click the carrier).
- 2
On the General tab, scroll to the Automatic Returns panel.
- 3
Set Automatically generate return label to Enabled.
- 4
Choose the Return shipping option (which carrier handles the return) and the Return shipping method (locker, courier).
- 5
Pick the Auto-return countries — only orders shipped to these countries get an auto-generated return label.
- 6
Click Save in the page header.
Good to know
- This panel is the only thing that drives auto-returns. The per-country map on this same page's Returns tab does not affect them — that map covers return labels created from the returns portal and from Create Return on an order. The two are configured separately, so a carrier set up in one place is not set up in the other.
- Related label settings live in Settings → Fulfillment → Shipping Label controls: Automatically generate return label and Add return label as order item.
- Auto-return labels appear on the order as an Auto Return shipment, downloadable or printable from the Shipments window.
