How to set up parcel locker selection on the thank you page
Instead of making customers pick a parcel locker during checkout, you can let them choose one right after they pay. A block on your Shopify thank you page lets the customer search for a pickup point, and their choice lands on the order in OrderKrab. Setup has three parts: a shipping rate in Shopify, the block on the thank you page, and a rule in OrderKrab that ties them together.
- 1
Before you start: your Shopify store has to be connected to OrderKrab, and the carrier you want must have its locker method switched on for the countries you ship to. Thank you page app blocks work on the Basic plan and above - Shopify Plus is not required.
- 2
In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Shipping and delivery and open the delivery profile you use. In the zone for your country, click Add shipping option and create the rate customers will pick - name it so the intent is obvious, for example DPD Locker (Choose locker after the checkout). Set its price (free or paid) and save. Note the name down exactly - you retype it in OrderKrab later.
- 3
Still in Shopify, go to Settings → Checkout. In the Configurations section, click Edit on the configuration you want to change - the checkout and accounts editor opens.
- 4
Click the Apps icon in the editor's sidebar and find OrderKrab Shipping Locker Block. Click + next to it, then choose the Thank you page in the Add to menu.
- 5
Select the block and set Backend URL to https://api.orderkrab.com, then click Save. Don't skip this - with the field empty the block never renders at all.
- 6
Switch to OrderKrab. Go to Shipping → Shipping Rules and find the Locker search on thank-you page card - it is shown once a Shopify store is connected.
- 7
Click Add rule on that card. The Add locker search rule window opens.
- 8
Type the Rate name exactly as you created it in Shopify, and choose the Destination - All countries, or one country if the rate exists only there.
- 9
Under Show locker search for, pick the carrier whose lockers should be searched, check the summary - Buyers shipping to any country who pick … can search … parcel lockers on the thank-you page. - and click Add rule. The rule appears in the card.
- 10
Test it: place a real order choosing that shipping rate. On the thank you page a Choose Your Locker block appears - search by city or name, pick a point and confirm. You should see Your pickup point has been saved. Thank you!, and the order in OrderKrab now carries that pickup point.
Good to know
- The WHEN text is matched against the shipping rate's name, not its code - on the thank you page Shopify encrypts the option handle and reports the code as custom, so the visible name is the only reliable match. Matching is case-sensitive; surrounding spaces are trimmed for you.
- A rule for All countries covers every destination; a rule for one country wins over it there. Rules are matched against the order's shipping address.
- Show locker search for only lists carriers that have a locker method switched on. If the window says None of your carriers set up here has a parcel locker method, switch the carrier's Lockers method on from the Delivery map first.
- When nothing matches, the block renders nothing at all - not an empty card. A thank you page with no locker block almost always means the rule text and the rate name differ, or the rule is for a different country.
- Until the customer picks a locker, the order reads Waiting for the buyer to pick a parcel locker - the carrier is set automatically once they do; set the method yourself only if they don't.
- If more than one rule matches, the customer first chooses a carrier and then searches. With a single match they go straight to the locker search.
- The chosen pickup point is written back to the order in OrderKrab; if the order hasn't finished syncing from Shopify yet, the write retries on its own. This feature is Shopify only.
- This is also how to offer lockers when your Shopify plan has no carrier-calculated rates: the Delivery map then shows Checkout stays with Shopify and links to this guide.
