How to create an additional shipment for an order
Order too big for one box? Lay it out into several shipments from the order page: you decide which items go into which shipment, and each shipment is registered with the carrier with its own label and tracking code - same delivery method and address as the order. Orders that are already fulfilled can still get an extra parcel with Add another shipment.
- 1
Open the order from the Orders page.
- 2
On the Shipping card, click Shipments to open the Shipments window. (Packing right now? The Shipments button in the Pick and Pack top bar opens the same window.)
- 3
Click Add shipments. The planner lists every item against the shipments: Shipment 1 keeps whatever you don't move, so type into the other columns only the units that should travel separately. Click Add shipment for another column; the N left / N too many counters per item and Ready in the footer tell you when everything adds up, and How it works repeats the rules.
- 4
Click Seal shipments. Each shipment is registered with the carrier - Shipments sealed. - and the window now lists Shipment 1, Shipment 2, … with their own status and Tracking code.
- 5
Click Download on a row to save its label PDF - or Print to send it to your label printer via PrintKrab.
- 6
Label the boxes and hand them to the carrier together.
Good to know
- If the order already had a label - Create shipments in advance makes one as soon as the order is ready - the planner says so: that shipment becomes void and its label stops working, and a new shipment 1 with the right items takes its place.
- Changing a sealed shipment later voids its label and the labels of every shipment after it; they are registered again when sealed. Removing every extra shipment goes Back to one shipment and voids the printed shipment labels.
- The planner needs a delivery method - if the Shipping card still says Set shipping method, assign one first - and isn't offered for store pick-up orders, which always travel as one, nor once the order is fulfilled or on its way to a store.
- For an order that is already fulfilled, the window offers Add another shipment instead: a second parcel with the order's current method and address, created immediately with its own label.
- Shipments always reuse the order's method and address. To ship a parcel somewhere else - or with a different carrier - create a custom shipment instead.
- Editing the order's shipping details is blocked while it has sealed shipments - go Back to one shipment first.
- During a Pick and Pack session the same layout happens as you pack - see how to pack an order into several shipments.
