How to generate a returns portal token
The returns portal token is a long-lived key your storefront uses to authenticate against the OrderKrab returns portal, letting customers submit return requests themselves. You generate it in OrderKrab and paste it into your store; generating a new one invalidates the previous one.
- 1
In the sidebar, click Returns Portal and open the Settings tab.
- 2
In the Returns portal tokens card, find your shop's row. Each row shows the shop domain and a badge for its platform, so an organization with several stores generates one token per store.
- 3
Click Generate token. The token is created and copied to your clipboard automatically.
Select your store platform
- 4
In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize and open the page holding the Return portal app block.
- 5
Paste the value into Portal token under Connection, then click Save.
- 4
In your WordPress admin, go to OrderKrab → Returns.
- 5
Paste the value into Portal token, then click Save changes.
Good to know
- The token is stored in the theme's block settings, so it does not follow you to another theme. After publishing a new theme, add the Return portal block to the returns page again and paste the token there too.
- For security, the token value is never displayed on screen — it only goes to your clipboard. Need it again later? Click Copy on the shop's row.
- Regenerate issues a new token and stops the old one working immediately, so paste the new value into your store straight away or the portal stops finding orders.
- The token never expires.
- A connected Shopify or WooCommerce shop is required.
- The Returns Portal page is a PRO feature, so tokens can only be generated on PRO. Return shipping per country is configured separately under Shipping → Returns and is available on every plan.
